Violet from the Darkness

Drawn to the darkness, as so many are,
you proved to spirits damned a source of light.
Did you surrender to the boundless night?
Did you wish on a black and baleful star?
I dread to see young people go so far.
I shake to speculate they may be right.
Is all existence one repulsive sight?
Is every smile a wound and then a scar?
It seemed so, gorgeous, when you chugged those pills.
You loved a devil. Infinitely sad,
burdened with all humanity’s worst ills,
you took the only course you thought you had.
Over such anguish, sometimes, mercy spills:
you ended happy, with your mom and dad.
