The Reporter

She found the story of the century—
And realized she couldn’t write a word.
What she knew, no one else could ever see.
She felt both superhuman and absurd.
She should have been afraid. What had occurred
Was miracle: of that she had no doubt.
But miracle is never simply stirred
To benefit the viewer. Oh, far out!
She cried – and knew not what she cried about.
Far out indeed events would cast her mind.
In her, impossibilities would sprout.
To her, uncanny tasks would be assigned.
Her heart began to shiver, then to throb.
She wiped her hard drive clean, then quit her job.
