Sanhedrin Type

Sanhedrin Type

Everyone on the council that decided
to seek the crucifixion of the Christ
displayed enormous piety, derided
those of imperfect faith. They deftly sliced
the question placed before them, sacrificed
no rigor, were responsible and strong.
For them, the old religious ways sufficed.
How can you now insist that they were wrong–
family men who had practiced virtue long
and stringently? Their consciences, well formed,
were clear when they arranged things so the throng
favored Barabbas. Heaven may be stormed
indeed — but urging Pilate makes more sense.
It’s the Sanhedrin type that rules events.
