Stevie King Ukrainian Potpourri

Stevie King Ukrainian Potpourri

Putin has screwed the pooch, says Stephen King.
Jerk failed to realize that Hero Joe
Would make him pay the price for everything.
Hey, Stevie’s confident – and he should know.
Although this isn’t quite his horror show,
He understands the genre thoroughly:
He understands how things are bound to go
With incarnations of monstrosity.
Biden is sure to force Count Vlad to flee
As once Count Dracula fled London Town—
Or else, like Ben Mears, Biden’s sure to be
Pounding a stake through Moscow’s macho clown.
Before that happens, though – let this be said!—
Joe’s brain must first be summoned from the dead.

Frankenstein’s Monster

Frankenstein’s Monster

“I was benevolent and good; misery made me a fiend.”

Hey, I don’t fear the Fiend’s prodigious force:
Sentimentality is what I dread—
And, boy, he’s on a sentimental course!
Hey, I don’t fear the Fiend’s prodigious force!
Is he six times as strong as any horse?
My problem is the sappy stuff he’s said.
Hey: I don’t fear the Fiend’s prodigious force.
Sentimentality is what I dread!

Ill Dreamt

Ill Dreamt

“We dreamt of you!” they told him in his dream.
“At any rate, we dreamt of one like you—
One who would, as a revenant, pursue
Our bones past every noumenal extreme
Into reality. Our vibrant team
Got right to work, as threatened creatures do.
Ideas, happily, were far from few.
We’re ready for your horror movie scheme!
Our sacred objects now we elevate!
Upon their fiery glow will you be fried!
We chant our orisons! Ha! Feel their weight!
Our studied piety can’t be defied!”
He woke then, overwhelmed by all their hate—
And was, as monster, truly terrified.

Charming Monster

Charming Monster

The charming monster makes his victims smile.
They’re happy as he drains their very souls.
It’s all a matter, miss, of monstrous style.
The charming monster makes his victims smile.
Advancing more through frankness than through guile,
He realizes parasitic goals.
The charming monster makes his victims smile.
They’re happy as he drains their very souls.

Trackin’ the Kraken

Trackin’ the Kraken

Hath the Kraken at last been released?
On its foes will it presently feast?
An attorney I’m not,
So I can’t say a lot.
But I sure wish good luck to the beast.

Humble Request

Humble Request

“The bitter sting of remorse will not cease to rankle in my wounds until death shall close them forever.”

Like Adam, I requested just one mate.
Frankenstein found that one request excessive.
His attitude was heartless and aggressive
At last. He started, labored to dilate,
Then cut the project off, inspired by hate.
Only of one small dream was I possessive.
My vengeance, I then swore, would be impressive.
Oh, he had opted for a dismal fate!
Creators have to answer, I maintain,
For what they have created. Mortified
By life infused in body and in brain
Fresh from his hands, he waited – then he cried.
I gave him boundless spiritual pain.
Did I regret my deeds? Ha! Walton lied!

Heart’s Fastness

Heart’s Fastness

You lay in wait for what scared others silly.
Your mighty hand attended Grendel’s grip.
In kennings, even oceans can be hilly.
You lay in weight – for what scared others silly
Troubled you not at all. Spread terror, will he?
You whispered in heart’s fastness. What a trip!
You lay in wait for what scared others silly.
Your mighty hand attended Grendel’s grip.

Creature from Another Lagoon

Creature from Another Lagoon

Is the creature abroad? Very soon,
Virile hero, while frail beauties swoon,
You’ll stand bold – not a fake!
Yes, you will. Big mistake!
This one comes from the Rainbow Lagoon.

Sprinter’s Speed

Sprinter’s Speed

“The classic monsters bore me!” he declared.
“Vampires and werewolves, Frankenstein…. Who’s scared?”
They leapt that very moment from the screen.
Such sprinter’s speed is very rarely seen.
