The Interrogation

“Iesus autem amplius nihil respondit ita ut mireretur Pilatus.”

–Marc. 15:5.

What? Have you gone and risen from the dead?
Do you possess a body glorious
Beyond what mortals dared expect – instead
Of this sad meat that now encumbers us?
Did you appear to rigid Paul – and thus
To us, his heirs in mournful history?
Are these too many questions to discuss?
Does one anointed need to chat with me?
I like the answer you gave silently
According to the scribe we know as Mark.
Answer me nothing, Lord, that I might see
The light that triumphs even in the dark.
I’ll cease to verbalize – and take your cue.
Your resurrection makes the world anew.
